Description

Cinquain
Description
- Five lines long
- 1st line = 2 syllables; 2nd line = 4 syllables; 3rd line = 6 syllables; 4th line = 8 syllables; 5th line = 2 syllables
- Rhyming is unnecessary but can include them
- Best cinquains tell a story: 1st line = subject; 2nd line = description; 3rd line = action; 4th line = feeling; 5th line = conclusion

Clerihew
Description
A clerihew is a four line comic verse of two rhyming couplets. The lines can be any length, but the first contains the name of the well-known person who is being written about (for this issue, it's about you). The second line should rhyme with your name. It was invented by Edmund Clerihew Bentley who died in 1956. So, your verse must rhyme and it should be funny. Here is an example.
Sir Humphrey Davy
Detested gravy.
He lived in the odium
Of having discovered sodium.

Emotion
Description
An emotion poem is used to describe various emotions, good or bad, using descriptive language.
There are a couple different emotion poem formats. For this issue, instead of emotion it's the color teal.
Line 1: State the color
Line 2: Describe the color
Line 3: It happens when...
Line 4: It sounds like...
Line 5: And smells like...
Line 6: Restate the color
Example of an Emotion poem:
Love
It smells like a deep red rose opening in the sun.
It tastes like delectable chocolate melting in your mouth.
It sounds like the birds chirping on a clear spring morning.
It feels like a fire on a cold winter's night.
It looks like an ocean scene painted by God.
Love is unpredictable and breathtaking.

1st Person POV
Protective Mask
Description
Describe the mask's thoughts. Include five senses. Example: How does it feel about covering the person's nose and mouth? Who is wearing it—physician? Does it smell or taste the virus as it tries to attach itself to the mask? What secrets does the mask know? What does it hear as the wearer talks to other people? Is it scared to know that there is a shortage in some places? Describe the mask's environment in the "I" or "we" point of view.

Pantoum
Description
A pantoum is a poem that uses a lot of repetition. To create this poem, follow these steps.
- Write a quatrain (4 line stanza about books or bookshelves). Writing emotional lines usually works best.
- Take lines 2 and 4 of the first stanza and make them lines 1 and 3 of the second stanza.
- Take lines 2 and 4 of the second stanza and make them lines 1 and 3 of the third stanza.
- Continue your poem using this pattern.
- For your last stanza, go back to the first stanza of the poem. Make line 3 of the first stanza line 2 of your last. Make line 1 of the first stanza line 4 in your last.
